HERE ARE SOME OF OUR FAVORITE FOOD AND WINE PAIRING TIPS:

Pair SPICY food with our Steuben wine. This medium-bodied, semi-sweet, light red wine holds up to bold flavors and its sweetness tames the heat.

  • Dish suggestions: BBQ pulled pork, chili, salad with bleu cheese, meat lover’s pizza, Italian sausage, Cajun shrimp
  • Additional wine suggestions: Foch(sweet), Niagara, Concord, Valley Sunrise, Riesling

Pair unoaked white wine with anything you can squeeze a lemon or lime on.

  • Dish suggestions: fish tacos, chicken piccata, grilled salmon
  • Wine suggestions: Diamond (dry), Riesling

Pair bold reds with bold meat.  The astringent compounds in red wines that help give the wine structure, are an ideal complement to luxurious meats.

  • Dish suggestions: steaks, duck or sausage
  • Wine suggestions: Cabernet, Ripepi Red, Syrah

Pair earthy wines with earthy foods. Many great pairing combinations happen when wines and foods echo one another.

  • Dish suggestions: Wild game, deer steaks, mushrooms
  • Wine suggestions: DeChaunuc, Syrah, Foch(dry)

With lighter meats, pair the wine with the sauce. Often the chief protein in a dish—chicken or pork, say—isn’t the primary flavor. Choose a delicate wine for delicate sauces or a bolder wine for bold sauces.

  • Wine suggestions: Ripepi White or Vidal Blanc for delicate sauces. Lighter dry reds like Chancellor or Dechaunuc for bolder sauces.

SOME OF OUR FAVORITE PAIRINGS:

Pasta with tomato sauce and Ripepi Red or Chancellor wine

The gentle acidity of these wines holds up against the acidity of the tomatoes. The medium body complements the bold flavors of the garlic, olive oil and herbs.

Basil Pesto Flatbread and Traminette or Diamond(dry)

Crisp white wines cut through the richness of the olive oil and parmesan cheese, refreshing your palette between bites. The grassy and citrus notes pair wonderfully with the basil and other fresh herbs.
